CGRG donates a portion of every bout to a local charity. Last month the team chose Special Olympics as the nonprofit recipient and will present the donation at halftime. This is in addition to the $3,200 raised by the team during the Special Olympics Polar Plunge in February. This month’s donation recipient is Southeast Hospice, a group the team has partnered with for several years. Other charities designated this season as beneficiaries of the team’s good will include the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Foundation and Beacon Health Center.
The CGRG takes pride in providing a family-friendly atmosphere. After every bout the fans are invited down to the track for photos and autographs, and children are encouraged to jump into the team photo. All home bouts are held at the A.C. Brase Arena. Discounted tickets can be purchased in advance at Pitter’s Café, PMac Music and from any roller girl for $7 or online at www.brownpapertickets.com; tickets can be purchased for $9 at the door the night of the bout.
