This past weekend (July 12th, 2014) CGRG took home a phenomenal win against the COMO Derby Dames of Columbia MO. Mrs. Missouri, Erin Fluegge-Wolf, made a special guest appearance and was given the honor of beginning the bout: blasting the first whistle, and starting the jam.
Queen Cobra scored an impressive seventeen point jam the first half, taking an early lead. COMO fought back scoring 40 points in short order, but CGRG defenses were unrelenting. If the thought they could make it past Block Widow, they were mistaken....repeatedly. At halftime, CGRG held a solid lead of 99 - 27.
Ar halftime, Devin Scott of Sikeston MO entertained derby girls and fans alike. with a keyboard accompanied music medley (Even throwing in a little Disney's Frozen among other fan favorites). Bombshell Boomer of CGRG also presented a check to the Arts Council for $450.
The lead continued into the second half, as CGRG kept up their momentum. It's clear training emphasis on recycling has paid off, as opposing Jammers were swallowed up whole. getting little t no chance to squirm their way through. COMO didn't lose their heart though, as they continued to fight until the last whistle, finishing the bout with a final score of 199-94. CGRG ends this week with a season record of 4-2, in a trend we hope to see to continue.
After the main even skaters from all over the area competed in an Expo Bout. Skaters from COMO, St Louis Gatekeepers. West Kentucky Rocking Rollers, Iron Range Maidens, and (of course) CGRG took the track together going at it again for a second round.
CGRG would like to thank the COMO Derby Dames, as well as other visiting skaters, offcials, and fans for helping make this night happen.
